I began writing at 16 years old. When I was 20, in the middle of unrequited love, I started to write poetry. I built a style known for strong language and emotional jabs.

In astrology, Mercury handles communication. My birth chart ruler is my Mercury in Cancer in the 11th house. My “big 3” are all ruled by the planet—as I am a Gemini Sun, Virgo Moon, Virgo Rising. I wanted to honor my 10th house stellium and 11th house ascendant ruler by creating this website: to showcase my art and create my legacy.

As one of Mercury’s geminis, I came up with the name mercurys(g)em. To many people, I go by Em.

I’m a queer and neurodivergent Latina. I write about my attachment issues, Depression, and my experience as a survivor. You will find an occasional upbeat entry, but for the most part, my writing explores mental spirals. These are whirls that tread the lines from self-victimization to transcendental detachment. My persona is a calculated mess.
